Other Half pointed me in the direction of a completely different type of search engine today - Search Me. Now at first sight, I didn’t much like it, partly because I hate black backgrounds, but after only a few minutes’ use, I am rapidly warming to it.
It has a ‘book pages’ type presentation, unique in my experience in a search engine, and I kind of like it. I wondered how easy it would be to navigate without a list, but you have tabs at the top which narrow the search into categories and so far I’m quite impressed. I tried it on a search I had done using Google, and which, with Google, had given me very frustrating results. The pages I needed came up immediately on Search Me.
The slider at the bottom allows you to flip quickly through the first batch of results, then you can use the arrows to navigate ‘next’ or ‘previous’. Clicking on a result page takes you to the website.
Be aware that this is a beta version, which may mean there are bugs yet to fix, but I’m going to give it a go!

Jay this is cool, I never loved google….I’m going to pass this along. Thanks.
thanks Jay, I like it!
You’re welcome ladies! Oh, and I discovered that in the ’settings’, top right, you can change from ‘night’ background to ‘day’! Yay!
Hi Jay, I found you through Widow in Oxfordshire - good luck with the novel, by the way! I love this new search engine - visually exciting and some good results.
Hi Puddock - thanks! It can be hard to fit the writing in some days, but I’m determined to do it.
Glad you like Search Me!
