Or should that be down? Anyway, it’s pretty, isn’t it? I love the swiss-roll appearance of turf on a pallet. It looks deliciously edible, like some kind of washed-out chocolate cake with .. um .. green … filling … ?
Mmmm. Perhaps not.
Maybe it’s more like a delicate little brown bread and spinach hors d’oeuvre? Alright, damn great BIG hors d’oeuvre?
*Sigh* .. OK. OK. Maybe I don’t want to eat it after all.
Anyway. I do very much prefer it like this -
Yes, indeed. That’s much better.
By the way, see that huge gap between the fence and that line of trees on the left of the picture? That’s how much ground we gained back after taking out an ancient and gappy privet hedge. Looks like a nice little racetrack for Sid, doesn’t it?

You have a lovely garden. Love that big hedge on the right which must give you some privacy from neighbours! And so GREEN! Ah but then you have a sprinkler, we’re not allowed to use them due to water restrictions.

I think I’ll pass on eating the sod, but it sure does look beautiful in the yard. I never knew there was such a thing as rattlesnake aversion classes for dogs. I should look into it. Sooner or later, Daisy is bound to run into one…

Ha ha ha! I think Sid is going to be one lucky dog! That’s a lovely stretch of lawn you have! And I think the turfs look like giant spring rolls

Awww just lovely!!! Very very nice, pleasing to the eye, you will love it. Hopefully Sid will leave it in tact when he takes off. Do you have a before photo Jay?
Water…lots of it….
What is it going up the right side…ivy?
Quite lovely….

You know what we did last Saturday? Yep, we laid turf (is that the correct phrase?) Anyway, you know what I mean. Eerie.
Your garden looks great. Hope Sid behaves
I bet you can’t wait to have him in your house (and garden).

Ah, so beautiful Jay! I love your yard; and yes, can’t wait to hear how much Sid loves it too.

Baino – It’s usually pretty green here. We’re using the sprinkler right now because the turf is new and can’t be allowed to dry out, but normally we don’t bother. Normally we get sufficient rain, you see!
Janie – Yes, I heard of the rattlesnake aversion classes on Greytalk. I can perhaps find out more if you’d like, but if I remember rightly, the guy uses a shock collar and a rattlesnake tail. Apparently, if it’s done properly, the shock is very gentle, but just enough for the dog to associate the rattle with an unpleasant experience. Not nice, but then a rattler can kill a dog, yes? Lesser of two evils, perhaps. I can’t speak from experience, because we don’t have them here, just repeating what I’ve heard.
Babs – There. See? Giant spring rolls! I’m glad you see the food connection too! LOL!
Sistertex – OH spent three hours watering it well today! Yikes .. labour intensive stuff, this turf, huh?
The hedging on the right is leylandii, a conifer hedge. On the other side is our neighbour’s drive, and then crops, so the hedge shields the garden from the farmer’s sprays.
I do have before pictures … here, and here. The second one is looking down the garden from the other direction, of course.
SJ Anne – Thanks, yes, I like it better there, too!
Kate – Yep, it just has to take root properly, before he comes in here with those great big paws and does his rather vigorous pee dance. I think there may be grooves…
Carolina – You laid turf too? What a coincidence! Yes that is the correct phrase, at least here in England it is. I believe the Americans call it ‘sod’, which has become a swearword here. LOL!
Maureen – Thanks, Maureen! I bet Sid loves it. He’ll be able to wander in and out all day, most days. OH likes to sit in the conservatory with the door open.
Looks very lovely. Hoping to see it in person next year
I do know what you mean. It looks as if it could be sliced.
