I'd never thought of planting one in a pot, and don't know if it would survive a Chicago winter that way. I have quite a hosta collection, liking some better than others. I don't have a huge problem with slugs, although they are there. I was going to tell you about the beer, but see someone already has. It supposedly works, but I don't have the heart to do it! Don't care to clean up the dead bodies, either!
