Macro Monday
Posted on September 21, 2009 in Uncategorized by Jay23 Comments »

I thought I’d show you some pictures from my workspace this week.  I make jewellery – oh, nothing flashy, just beads and ready-made sterling or gold-plated findings, and sometimes cotton or leather thong, but I love to do it.  The beads and sequins and so on are so beautiful, and it’s a quiet and soothing thing to do.

It’s a great hobby for me, because there’s no pressure and I love handling all the components.  Even the cords have their fascination for me.

I’m not very tidy though.  I opened up a box today and pulled this out.  It’s a mix of purple leather thong and cotton cord.  Both are quite springy, so they coiled themselves up in a tangle and I thought they looked quite photogenic.

Lastly, I took a picture of some finished jewellery.  These are three pairs from a handful of greyhound earrings I’ve made, which I’ll probably donate to the next ‘Meet and Greet’ for a greyhound rehoming charity.  They won’t fetch much, but every little bit helps, doesn’t it?

So, that’s my contribution for this week’s Macro Monday!  I can’t wait to see what everyone else has come up with!

Is any artist tidy when working?! The earrings are darling and a greyhound lover will snatch them right up!

Great that you do beadwork, takes some patience to be sure. Nice gh earrings too. :)

What a fun topic! And it’s a nice gesture to donate the earrings. Every little bit helps.

Wonderful photos. (By the way, your Comluv gadget has problems with me. Poor Comluv.) Last week I had my first photography lesson, which was a blast, but I already learned a thing or two. For instance: action shots: press AF.DRIVE button, turn wheel from ONE SHOT to AI SERVO. It allows you to follow a subject, keep that in focus while the background goes all stripy or blurry or whatever you want to call it. But you probably knew that already. Just telling you because you asked about the marathon shots that accidentally came out quite acceptable ;-)

Mere – Thanks – I hope they will! And I love your comment about artists and tidiness. That’s comforting! :P

Sistertex – Thank you! Yes, it takes a little patience sometimes, but I like the creative process.

Bettyl – Yes, every little helps – and it’s a good way to get people to come over to the stand, if they see lots of little things to buy there!

    Jama – Thanks! :)

Lisa – It is fun! Thank you! :)

Carolina – I had to stop using Comment Luv for a while, because it will only work with the updated version of WordPress and I didn’t want to update. But then there was a security problem in my version so I had to update. I don’t know why it sometimes has problems with feeds. It often won’t show mine on other blogs, either!

Thanks for the tips – I’ll try that! :D

Maria – Wow, your necklaces look much nicer than mine! But if you’d like to exchange, I’d be happy to! :)

I love sequins and shiny stuff – used to make all my headbands – just a hippy through and through really – I don’t have the patience anymore…. or the steady hands :-)

Beautiful MM post! All photos are great, my fav is #1. The metallic structure of the background is a perfect contrast to the smooth surface of the pearls and discs.

Sandy – I enjoyed taking that one! :)

Kate – Funny, I never did when I was a hippy! I made most of my own clothes, but I bought cheap jewellery – when I could afford it!

Singapore plants lover – It’s fun, isn’t it? I love that all the tools and beads and stringing materials etc are so easily available these days!

Terry – Teelgee and Dutchbaby – Thank you both!

Petra Michelle – Well, it seems you are right! I’ve just had an offer of £10 (just over $16 US) for a pair, from a greyhound owner! :)

Lisa @ Click – Thank you – I just couldn’t decide which one to go with, so I put them all in. I’m glad you like the effect!

Honey Mommy – Thanks! I was pleased with that one!

Buenos Aires Photo Blog and Amanda – Thank you! I don’t have any proper photographic lighting, but I was able to use my ‘daylight’ craft light to eliminate shadows, otherwise that first one wouldn’t have turned out so well. :)

Amy – Thanks! It’s one of the things I like about making jewellery – the different materials and textures.

EG Wow! – I’m so glad to hear yours is messy too! LOL!
