EM - LOL! Yeah, I feel like one of those old 'ladies' sometimes! :D

Aussie - Thanks!

I would have been so pissed if that had happened here! I don't know why people are so quick to cut trees down. If this one hadn't been dangerous, it would still be intact. As it is, I'm extremely glad it was pollarded and not felled. Our neighbour wanted it gone. :(

Mm. The manual manipulations were indeed mesmerising!

Great blog post Jay ! It must have been mesmerising, with all those manual manipulations going on! ;) But the whole process does sounds difficult, you must be relieved now. Where we used to live in the city we had a beautiful tree that shaded the backyard in our hot summers. One day, without notice a tree fella came in and cut the thing down. He didn't even knock on the door and tell us what he was at, can you believe it? Well, the back neighbours had complained to the council and got an order to remove it. I guess you never can tell what each day will bring. :)

Yes, Dawn, it is nice watching, isn't it!

The chainsaw was the biggest thing he used!! Sometimes he sat up there and used a handsaw or a big knife, mostly he used the chainsaw! I was stunned, watching him work. So neat and tidy and methodical... but I guess tree surgeons don't live long if they're not safety conscious. Not without injury anyway.

lovely watching young men work, glad your tree is saved and all is better in the yard. though that chainsaw seems a bit small for the job ;)

love your photo of the damsel fly, they are beautiful! I have only seen one small one here this year so far.
