Well now. What should I show you for the letter ‘P‘ in our continuing travels through ABC Wednesday? Those who read my blog regularly will have seen the Petroglyphs I posted for Macro Monday, but those aren’t from the archives anyway – they were only a couple of weeks old.

So what’s it to be?

I could talk to you about my favourite pirate, the peculiarly pretty and perfect Captain Jack? I have a few things, dotted around here and there, you know. The odd CD, bookmark, model and so on.

Or perhaps I could show you my favourite person*, who plays that favourite pirate?

Here’s Johnny Depp at the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean, greeting the public like the perfectly professional pro that he is. Such pulchritude! Such a pert and pretty … oh, never mind.

Then, of course, there are the posters of that particular pirate, both private -

And public.

Pretty, aren’t they? And then there are other pictorial representations. For instance, here’s a selection from my personal stash of magazines.

And then this here is the very first signed photograph of Johnny Depp I ever owned, which was given to me by OH as a Christmas present – Johnny as the pirate, naturally. Priceless!

Or perhaps you’d like to see my own little Pirate Jack, seen here sailing the high … er … grasses … in the fields of home, keeping a sharp eye out for, well, anything interesting really.

If you enlarge the picture (which you’ll have to do by clicking twice, once here and once on the next screen) you’ll see that he’s wearing his skull and crossbones collar – well, one of them! He had several, naturally, being a pirate. Ah, he was a great little dog – perfectly named – and I loved him dearly.

He loved his yellow toys, too. You could almost think of them as his very own ‘pirate gold‘ treasure, couldn’t you?

I think he did!

Well, there you go. All of these are archive pictures. Not exactly a visit to the past, as some of my other ‘archive’ posts have been, but I hope you’ve enjoyed it anyway! And what else could a dyed-in-the-wool Depp fan do, when presented with the letter ‘P‘?

*Outside the family, that is.

Sistertex and Janie of Utah – Both pirates are/were lovely. Jack (the dog) was named for Jack Sparrow, of course. He had that peculiar mix of cowardice and bravery that Jack (the pirate) has, and he was beautiful – he even appeared to be wearing ‘eyeliner’! And he was a real opportunist with a ‘no worries’ attitude. I miss him.

Joy – He did love his yellow toys! I think he could see them the easiest, bless him.

Shrinky – Why, thank you! But Jack is gone, sadly. It’s Sid we have now – an understandable mistake, though, since Sid is exactly the same colour as Jack. That and you can’t see that Jack doesn’t have a leg missing in either of those pictures.
