Something cheerful
Posted on May 22, 2008 in Life, the Universe and Everything, The Home Front by Jay7 Comments »

I came across this brand new ladybird in my garden yesterday. It’s a variation of the Ten Spot, called the Faint Ten Spot, for obvious reasons.

I love his cheerful colours on the bright spring green!

When I took the dogs for a walk around the park, this blackbird sat watching us. He seemed totally unafraid and let us pass quite close. He even watched curiously as I took his picture – and was still there as we walked on.

And later that day, I spotted a robin clinging to the brick wall as he tried to figure out how to get to the feeder. I didn’t know they could do that!

There. A few happy pictures to counteract the bad stuff going on in the world.

I love lady bugs, but I didn’t realize they had such creepy legs! lol Now I’ll have to rethink letting them crawl on my hand. Eeesh. (I’m a wimp, I know.)

Thanks Dawn! Your photos are always gorgeous.

DM – well, they are beetles, you see, so they have little beetley legs! LOL!

GREAT PICTURES JAY! I LOVE THEM!! Thanks for sharing. Did you use the macro setting for the lady bug, I’m still trying to work that feature on my camera

Natural – Thanks! Yes, I used the macro setting. You need good lighting, or the shutter speed will be too slow, and you need a steady hand – although this Lumix has a great image stabiliser. You have to turn it on, though, so you’ll need to read through the manual to find out if your camera has one and how to do that.
