Well, the time has come, and after weeks of stressing about it, the cases are packed, and we are off on holiday. I’m going to visit my Depp friends in LA for a week, but there’ll be time for OH and I to do other stuff too - like that famous Bryce Canyon ride I’ve been getting in shape for.
Since we’re going abroad, I’ve just taken the dogs to their boarding kennel. Why does it rip your heart out to leave them, even though you know they are safe and well-cared for? They’re going to a lovely man and his sister who run a luxury boarding establishment for all small animals, and they really are lovely people. He remembered my dogs and what they were like last time they stayed with him, even though it was six months ago. They have their own beds and the Pirate has his beloved yellow stuffie, and they’ll be fine, I know they will. I just hate to send innocent dogs to jail.
Our son is looking after the house for us while we’re away, so we’re just waiting for him to turn up to give him the last minute instructions (there are always last minute instructions) and then we’ll be off.
Anyway. The next blog might be from the airport. Or it might perhaps be from Las Vegas. Of course, if we’re unlucky, it might be from Denver. We’re actually not supposed to be going anywhere near Denver, but it happened before, and we were stuck there for ages, so I can’t rule it out. We got landed at Hawaii once, too, when we were supposed to be going to LA, which would, of course, be far better, but we were coming from the other direction at the time so I think it’s probably unlikely to happen again. Do you detect a trace of hysteria? Yeah, I’m always like this before I fly anywhere. It’s nothing to do with being nervous of air travel, it’s just that I’m convinced I’m not ready and that I’ve forgotten something important. Once I’m in the air, I’ll be fine, but until then, stress rules. So you’d better just hope that the next blog is from somewhere - anywhere - on the other side of The Pond, because if I’m posting from Gatwick airport, it will only get worse.
Take deep breaths, and have a wonderful time.

Thanks Ruth! I’m now at the airport hotel. Gah. I hate airport hotels. Dinner was good though!
I find travel to be more and more stressful as I get older, but never enough to stop!
Have a great time!

Well, I’m on pins and needles for you because I DO hate air travel, but I know you’ll have a fabulous time. Can’t wait to read all about it. If your plans go awry to the extent that you end up in South Carolina (not likely, LOL) I hope you’ll let me know so I can rush over to the airport and press a magnolia blossom and a mint julep into your palms sweaty with stress!

How exciting
I love air travel (but not take off and landing) and any kind of travel. But I hope it isn’t too exhausting. Have fun

Happy happy I just want to wish you a lovely time. Have a gift for you sometime later this week. Also your post on wall flowers was one of the best I’ve ever read. Probably because flowerrs that survive like that are harbingers of survival to me ..sk

OOOO Congratulations! Vacations are wonderful things, I often fantasize I’m on one when the children are driving me absolutely batty. One of these days, I may even take them on one :). Enjoy yourself to the fullest, and here’s hoping you don’t end up in Denver. (Although that’s only a 9 hour drive from me, we could visit lol.)

DeaFulgora, JD, Doris, Meleah Rebeccah, and Natural - Thanks! I will definitely be taking pics and blogging - you can be sure of that!
Dawn - I will let you know how that goes! Right now I don’t feel so good, so I hope I’m well enough to go when the time comes. I have a sore throat - picked up a bug somewhere…
Mr N - Ah, yes, the earthquakes! I’ve experienced two small ones on the West Coast, but remember we do get them here in England too! There was a quite noticeable one earlier this year, something like 5.5 on the Richter scale and centred somewhere between fifty and a hundred miles from me. It broke my Willy Wonka bobblehead, dammit! LOL!
JT, Jenny - I only wish I was near enough to visit you both! We didn’t get diverted to Denver thank heavens. I did get an aerial photo of the mountains in the area though!
Doris - But take-off and landing are the best bits! LOL!
Sandy - A gift? Oooh, exciting!
Thank you so much for your nice comment on my post! That’s so sweet of you.
Mr Papa - Hello and welcome! We have a ‘one laptop per connection charge’ rule here in this hotel, so that shouldn’t be too difficult! Tee hee!
OMG I LOVE airports!! All that shopping! And because you’re already unofficially on holiday you can buy frivolous stuff like perfume and bikinis and it doesn’t really count! Have a fab time hun, can’t wait to hear all about it. Mwah xx

Aren’t bobbleheads supposed to bobble when shaken? Isn’t that the point? We are still witing for the Big One to hit here - Mr. DBM and I agreed to move from our previous abode, which is situated on a sand delta, due to the fact that the whole place will sink beneath the sands, disappearing for ever beneath the steely waves of the pacific Ocean when the Big On eodes hit………we decided to move to a house on some nice firm bedrock.
Don’t Bug Me!s last blog post..So, I didn’t go diving, again.
EM - Funnily enough, I just tried on a new Hermes perfume called Un Jardin Apres La Mousson (or something like that). Las Vegas has even more shops than an airport! And no, of course it doesn’t count. It’s not anywhere near the same as going into your local shopping mall and blowing the housekeeping! LOL!
DBM - Yes, bobbleheads are supposed to bobble, but their feet are not supposed to snap off. ROFL! Glad you moved somewhere safer!
Oh….I’m sooo envious, I love to just fly any old where and no problems with forgetting things, I only ever travel by air with one piece of hand luggage, a small backpack and nothing else. If you don’t take it they can’t lose it!….and it saves hours checking in and out :o)) Have a fab time.
