This week’s ABC Wednesday post begins, most unusually, with a Photoshopped picture of the Princess and the Pirate singing a duet. Oh, it’s true that they did sing a duet, and they were in the conservatory when they did it, but they weren’t actually on the same bed, so I had to cut’n'paste, so to speak. See that little plastic hamburger toy? That’s what did it. Jack had only been with us for a week or so when he discovered this thing and took it to his bed to play with. And it squeaked at him, so he dropped it and looked disconcerted, then bit it again .. and it squeaked. And he squeaked back and the more the toy squeaked, the more Jack squeaked and yelped until he was pointing his nose to the ceiling and delivering a most spectacular roo. And then Princess Renie joined in, though judging by her face she had absolutely no clue why she was doing it. And amazingly enough, I was able to grab the camera and snap some shots.
This particular duo were very fond of each other and while they seldom shared a bed, they did like to be close.
You see, Jack was a very twitchy little fellow and couldn’t bear to have anyone touching him while he slept. I think Renie would have liked to double up in a bed, but he wouldn’t let her so she used to get just as close as she could. Just occasionally, with great delicacy, she’d manage to get a paw on him without disturbing his sleep.
The did love their big soft beds, but didn’t matter if there were none nearby, they’d simply drop to the carpet and doze there.  One day I took a picture looking down on them from above. And as you can see, they’d just finished their dinner.
And talking of dinner – here they are eating. This was in the month before she died, and Renie was hungry but didn’t want to jump down from her chair. She ate her entire dinner like this, in the ‘downward dog‘ position.
And finally, just for fun, I snapped this picture for you this morning.
I invite you to guess what’s going on here. Could it be that Data and Mr Depp (in his persona as Jack Sparrow) went to say hi to Sid, whereupon our brave dog took it upon himself to dismember poor Data? As you can see, he’s missing a hand already and the other one is inside Sid’s mouth, probably getting dented!  As to Cap’n Jack .. is he defending his friend? I dunno. Seems to me more likely that he’s determined to keep his treasure chest!
Life is never dull with a dog!

A delightful duo! A great photo of them singing (even if you did some tweaking).

Delightful dogs and D words. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day.
Loved the photos of Pirate Jack and Princess Renie. They sure look like they were two very happy hounds…beautiful as well.
As for Sid…well I’m thinking perhaps he should adopt the title ‘Pirate the Second’ considering his lust for treasure! So when you walked in on this scene did he look up at you and say ‘RRRRRRR it’s me Matey….shiver me timbers I have been found out….” ?
Very nice post, Jay…ummm sorry about Data.
Awe! Gotta love the greyhounds!

I love the shot from above. I feel a bit sorry for Data and Mr Depp though, were they completely demolished?

Gordon- Thank you! I enjoyed tweaking the picture. They might not have been on the same bed, but they were very, very close!
Kate and SJ Anne – Thanks – I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Manang Kim – It’s amazing how greyhound do love to sleep in the same positions! They nearly all do it.
Sistertex – They were happy, I think! I did all I could to make them so, anyway!
Sid didn’t say ‘I’ve been found out’ but rather ‘Are you sure you want me to play with your toys?’ LOL! He didn’t hurt them. Data had already lost his hand – but I am going to glue it back on for him.
Jill – Thank you! The armadillo was a gift from a good friend in the US! We don’t have them here, but of course, the dogs don’t know that! And Sid loves the way he squeaks.
Sandy, Pam, EG Wow and Kate – Thank you!
Photowannabe – Thanks! It was a lot of fun to see them rooing together, and the Photoshopped picture helps to keep that memory alive for me – it’s important to me, especially now they’re both gone.
Mr Depp will be back, for sure!
Anthony North – Haha! Data is OK. Remember, he’s an android, and most things can be fixed.
Mara – Not at all! In fact, Sid didn’t injure either of them – I’m afraid it was me that broke Data’s hand… and I shall fix him!
Just showed thes ephotos to my little son, he loved it like I did! But he thought you have glued them on the wall, on the second photo! LOL

Your dramatic duo is delightful, but I daresay, very long of their dulcet display would drive me to drinking…
And in the final shot, it appears as if Depp is aboutto be decapitated.

Nydia – Hahahahaha!! No, I didn’t glue them to the wall. How funny! LOL!
Joy – The armadillo is great, isn’t he? It’s one of Sid’s favourite toys. Sent to me by a friend in the US.
Troy – No worries on either count. The dogs seldom made a noise, and then it was usually just a quick bark to alert us to a suspicious noise outside. And both Data and Captain Jack survived. I’ll tell you a secret; I encouraged Sid to pose by placing a tiny piece of cheese in Data’s hand. That’s all he was after.
Petra Michelle – I’m glad you enjoyed the post today!
LeAnn – Yes, that one makes me smile, too. The Princess was the laziest dog on the planet at times.
Gattina – I’m quite fond of that one myself.
Roger – How true! LOL!
Lily – Thanks – it is heartwarming to see someone truly care for their dogs, isn’t it? I can tell that you do too.
Rune E – My Blogspot blog (used only for redirection) is called Dogs and Depp.
Spiderdama and Vicky – Thank you!
Carolina – Don’t fret, I’ll glue his hand back on. He’s an android, right? He’ll be fine. LOL!
Lovely photo’s, lovely dogs! Can’t stop giggling at the singing duo! Can just imagine the noi…oops, er sound they are making – and then there’s good old Sid, destroying Data. (Often wanted to destroy Data myself).
Glad to see you back on top again Jay!

Geri – Thank you so much for your very kind words! But .. you want to destroy Data? How could you? He’s so … useful! LOL!
Renie was a little ’screechy girly’ when she sang, but Jack was very musical. He would sing ‘Wo, wo, wo, oo oo oo oh, wo wo!’ on a descending scale and in very mellow tones indeed. And so does Sid.
Moannie – So glad you enjoyed it! I like making people feel warm and fuzzy.
Tumblewords and Secret Agent Woman – Thank you!
Michelle – Thanks! Their personalities were easy to catch!
Jay,
These dogs precious. How sad the Renie died. There personalities shine through and so does your love for them.
I had the chance to look through some of your posts this evening. I am hooked (as you are on Capt Jack Sparrow) Love your writing and sense of humor.

Fairfield House – Hello, and welcome! And thank you for the kind words.
Yes, sadly, Renie had a tumour which got into her spine and caused her terrible pain. Inoperable, tragically. Then we lost Jack (The Pirate) only five weeks later. He was very old, but it was still very hard. We had a few dog-less months, then we adopted Sid, who is a sweetheart. Same colour as Jack, but only three legs. He doesn’t have a nickname yet (other than The Tripod), but I’m sure he’ll get one!
A wonderful collection of Ds with equally good photos to watch.
