Macro Monday – Puzzle No. 13
Posted on March 15, 2010 in Life, the Universe and Everything, The Home Front by Jay44 Comments »

MM-Puzzle13B

Unlucky for some? I don’t think so. I think this Macro Monday puzzle is going to prove a little easier for you – although quite a number of you guessed last week’s cryptic pic, so maybe I’m getting the difficulty level about right, at last!

This one is a very common object. I know for sure they exist in exactly this form all over the UK and the USA, and I’m pretty confident that you will see them all over the world.

So, what is it? It’s a useful object, so useful that I think most people have one of these things in some form. This particular type isn’t expensive, so many of you might start out with one of these and progress to something a little more to your liking. The type I have pictured here is a throwaway version, but at the same time, the one in the picture is extremely valuable and important to me, and cannot be bought in a shop. Uh-huh, that’s thrown you, hasn’t it? Tee hee.

Let’s just say that they are produced by many, many people, for many different purposes, and this one is very specific indeed. Most are not, and can be bought in shops, online, or from various events and places. Some are even given away.

The answer will be found here at the bottom of this post, in the form of a picture link, from tomorrow evening (UK time). I will also answer the comments at that time and add further information there.

Have fun – I know I will!

And here we are on Tuesday evening and I expect you want the solution. I really thought this one would prove to be dead easy, but it seems I was mistaken, so go here to find out what this mystery object was. Congratulations to Moon, Babs, Liz, Silverback and Jama who all guessed correctly! More information can be found in the comments.

Thanks for playing! Do come back next week – I am working on making them easier, and one day I expect you’ll drop by and know exactly what it is!

Never ‘entered’ one of these MM’s before (I don’t think) but this one got to me as it seemed so familiar from the get-go but I just couldn’t nail it down.

Then I came back to add this and see that Babs and Liz got there first with my suggestion of a JD photo key fob or something similar although the gap in the plastic still makes me think it’s something else that’s familiar. D’uh.

Sod it, I’m going back to reading these post on a Wednesday morning !!

Jay, thanks for stopping by my blog. Say, ‘Face of the Week’ photo can be done anytime Monday – Thursday. So you don’t have to do it today…you have until Thursday to participate if you would like to!

Looking forward to your ‘Face’ whenever you get around to it. :)

Yes…a little dark, sorry about that, but it was taken in the rearview mirror on a cloudy day. It is my OH and my oldest daughter in the photo.

Everyone – Well, seems it wasn’t so easy after all! Sorry about that!

As you see, it’s a plastic key fob – something most people will have, or will have had, at some time. They’re given away frequently as corporate, charity or event ‘souvenirs’, or just with a new key. Often you can buy them with movie stars’ pictures in, so Babs and Liz, you weren’t so far out with that guess! I do, in fact, have one with a film cell from one of Mr Depp’s movies in it!

This one is Sid’s official Pets As Therapy identity tag. It has his picture ID on one side, and his official registered number on the other. He will have to wear it on his collar at every PAT visit we make, so you can see why this is valuable and important to me, and cannot be bought in a shop.

Mirror, magnifying glass, plastic utensil and pen .. all very reasonable guesses, and looking at the picture myself, I can see exactly how you thought those things!

Many thanks to everyone for taking part, and extra thanks to those who said they liked the photo for itself. I do try to make these things aesthetically pleasing as well as puzzling!

Silverback – so sorry, my friend, for driving you nuts. I’m so glad you’re several thousand miles away. LOL!

Sandy – Not a bread board, as you see! Something rather smaller! ;)

I knew exactly what it was, since I actually went through your previous posts looking for it – I just knew it would have something to do with one of your dogs, and so I scrolled through all your dog posts until I found it. Is there something wrong with me!?! Or perhaps I was just avoiding work? Since I felt as though I had cheated (again), I did not post the answer. I found it here http://www.thedeppeffect.com/1138/abc-wednesday-the-letter-t-2/

LisasChaos – Fooled you again? Tee hee! Fun, though, isn’t it?

Vicki – Well, true macro photography is 1:1 ratio or even larger, so yes, I do love the challenge of getting really, really close! ;)

Sistertex – Maybe next time? :D

DBM – Wow, you did comb through the archives, didn’t you? And you’re absolutely right, of course – same tag from the same place, but for a different dog. I still miss Renie so much. I’ve had to order Sid a new yellow enamel ‘PAT’ tag which they also have to wear, because I can’t bear to take Renie’s off that necklace to re-use.

My first impression wasn’t even close. I thought it was a lens from reading glasses. I really thought I was on the right track when you said that these were inexpensive, that most people would progress further, and that it can not be purchased in a shop. But when you said it was a throw-away version, I switched to contact lens. Still not right – rats! I shall now console myself by believing that this picture frame is a lens of sorts…

I would like to commend Don’t Bug Me! for being a dedicated puzzler!

SquirrelQueen – Haha! I’m so glad you like it, even if you do find it so difficult!

Dutchbaby – Well, you know, looking it at after reading the comments that guessed reading glasses or magnifier, it really DOES look like one of those, doesn’t it? I cannot blame you for thinking so! It was a pretty good guess!
