Diane - Hello! Thanks for commenting, all this time later! :)

Ah, well, I could go on for hours, of course. But basically, if you're talking physical beauty, I think it is in the symmetry. Officially, we're all drawn to symmetrical faces when we think of classical beauty, but on the other hand, as human beings, we are drawn to patterns which are just the tiniest bit 'off'. Johnny Depp has the perfect mixture of symmetry and flaw. Unless you really make a study of his face, you wouldn't notice the flaws, but they are there. He has the tiniest bit of pigment outside the iris in the white of one eye, for instance. Then there's a little scar in his eyebrow, and those famously uneven teeth, etc.

But you know, pretty much every face reflects the soul of the owner, and I think this counts in his favour, too!

oh yes, I just love the Sam character from Benny & Joon. I love the Chaplinesque sweetness. I have been trying to explain to my girlfriend why I think that JD is one of the most beautiful humans on the planet. The only thing I can come up with is the shape and symmetry of his face. Bone structure, for lack of a better explanation. What am I missing?

Well ... I have finally made my commenting rounds back to the DeppEffect only to find I have not been tagged! Was'up wi'dat? TO think ... Only seconds after reading this post I thought of so many possibilities of actors and actresses playing me and the wife. Lucy and Desi, Ralph and Alice, Fred and Wilma ... so many choices. Hmmmm ... I may try it just the same. Oh ... and I didn't leave this comment but I almost did.

There must be someone, Valerie! Of course, no-one would be perfect, that goes without saying, but it might be interesting to ask your family who they would choose! ;)

hmm, this is something i never thought about. i would have to play myself, nobody can perfect my seriousness, crazy and sense of humor and be believable. lol.

as for the rest of my family, i don't know. i'll have to go think about this. we are all a bunch of characters with broken molds.

enjoyed reading your selections though.

Babs - And I love it!! Bette Midler! LOL!

Ruth - Yes, I read about your little mistake... cringe-making for sure, but it will blow over.

Mother Hen - I'm just so thankful that both my sons have a well-developed sense of humour! Americans do have a different style to us for sure, but I've enjoyed some US sitcoms very much - like Third Rock, Night Court, Desperate Housewives, and - oh, do you remember Maximum Bob? That was hilarious!

I do think Brits are better comedians than the Americans. Serious. Brits are very good in one-liners, and very sarcastic. There are a lot of Americans who love British comedies too.

This was very fun. Sorry I can't think of more to say. It's been a trying day, and my brain is not cooperating.
