Conversations with a husband – No. 10

HalfWoman

OH: I’ve just looked through every page of your Grazia magazine.

Me: Mmm?

OH: I think there are two and half truly beautiful women in there.

Me: Two and a half? You mean ‘half a beautiful woman’ or ‘half beautiful’?

OH: Uh … undecided. All the rest are ..

*Long pause during which many facial contortions are observed*

… scrawny. Or not very bright looking.

Me: Interesting. I shall have to go and look through it and see if I can spot which two and a half you mean.

OH: Oh, I think you will, knowing me.

*Pause*

OH: You might not spot the half, though.

Now, me, I’d have thought spotting half a woman would have been easy.

Ha ha! Like the pic ;O)
You know that the media tell us who we must find beautiful. It’s no longer our decision to make.

By the way. My mum was the only person to call me Babsie. I haven’t heard it in years – It was nice :O)

My God – it never ceases to amaze me what men do when faced with a girlie mag!!!
Counting beautiful women? That’s got to be a new one!!!

I always think men love our ‘girly’ mags far more than we do! BG

“Now, me, I’d have thought spotting half a woman would have been easy.”

    Just lift her skirt……. ;-)

Personally, I hate women that look like stick figures. I don’t get the fascination with Kate Moss and her body type.

    Bones are for dogs.

I far prefer women with something to hold on to, not those that look like I could snap them in half just by blowing on them.

  7. on 11 Aug 2008 at 4:58 pm7Jeni

Ha Ha!!! I love that man. I want to see the half/not quite decided woman.

  8. on 11 Aug 2008 at 5:07 pm8Jenn

So two and a half beautiful women, and the rest, half-wits? :)

    Figures.

Two and a half women is new to me. I hope Google Gods help me deciphering what exactly it means.:-P

Well, I like your husband’s criteria if he rules out scrawny women and half-wits.

Babs – We need to take back control!! I’m glad you didn’t mind being called Babsie. It just … came out. LOL!

Kate – I think he was trying to prove his theory that stick-thin is not attractive. He wanted to see how many of the women in the magazine that they considered beautiful were actually beautiful to him. I kind of liked the result. ;)

Bendy – It came as a surprise to me! I had no idea he read the things!

Mr N – it’s good to know there are a lot of men out there who like real women. Since I have absolutely no chance of ever being string-bean thin, it’s comforting. Clever answer to the problem, by the way. How’s that black eye doing?

Jenny – Find some producer insane enough to give us an enormous advance, and we’ll do it! Especially if we get to star with Johnny Depp.

Meleah – I have yet to find out. But I don’t think I’m one. LOL!

Jeni – Me too. I might have to ask for help in finding her though. Apparently it’s not as easy as looking for one as in the picture above…

Jenn – Yeah, he has no time for supermodels and fashionistas, that’s for sure! Lucky for me. ;)

Scratch – I haven’t had time to go through the magazine yet, but I’ll let you know!

Ruth – Yep, he’s good like that! LOL!

HAHAHAHA…that’s great. Half a woman. Top half, or bottom half?? ;-)

Wow that’s so funny! I agree with him, most of the models look dumb or sick. Us real women need to take a stand. Great post.

    Hi Jay,

2 and a half women? That’s a new one to me. Was he looking at the photo you provided? haha! You’ll have to keep us posted on if you picked out the same ones he did. I’m very curious about the half.

Angi and Moon – It was kind of a diagonal slice. Clearly he couldn’t make his mind up!

Babs – Ooh, thanks, Babsie! :D

Sarah – Yes we do!! You l like the pic? Thanks! Took me a while, i can tell you!

Bee – Yeah, even after being married for thirty-odd years, he can still make me do the ‘huh?’ face!

Mr N – Any time, sweetie!

Barbara – Well, he really meant he was undecided, so he only counted her as a half a point, but it’s much funnier to think of it the other way, isn’t it? LOL!

OK, everyone – here are the pics of the two and a half women -

And yes, I got them all in the end. The half a woman proved a little difficult!

Funny. I love the challenge of finding or doing something based on what you know about that person without them telling you exactly what. It’s wonderful [warming] to know someone THAT well. I believe I could find half a person too.
