Silly things alright. We have them here but again, used mainly for kids’ formals or the odd wedding. Gas guzzlers and wanky yanky things. Hummer have given 7 of the normal ones to Victorian police because they look intimidating in the hope that they can combat late night revellers who are misbehaving . .what next water canon? I’m with Moon! Hate the things. They’re built for warzones not urban roads. I’d have a special ‘tax’ on all of them . . .and four wheel drives used for recreational purposes . . .and Camry’s . . .*still grumpy about internet :{

Jenn – That’s exactly it, isn’t it? Most of us are struggling with fuel costs, then you get these!

Debs – It’s not a british thing… for me, it’s a green thing … what is the point of them… apart from using so much petrol ???… I get so annoyed with people moaning about petrol prices, then drive these things (most 4×4 to be honest) that never leave the tarmac !!

Babs – One of my relatives had one for a prom too, and I can see why that would go down well! As you say, great fun for kids. Of all ages!

I’m sure if you had money enough to waste you could have one fitted out exactly as you wanted.

Jenny – I had a ride in a stretch limo once. I have no desire ever to do so again – I stand by my statement that they are ridiculous vehicles, because basically, all you get is space and ostentation. They’re not even very comfortable to ride in. I loved having the experience, but … once is enough. Stretch Hummers? That’s taking it a step too far for me.

Ruth – Ugly, isn’t it? ‘Vehicular nightmare’ is a good description! LOL!

Moon – What have you got against Ken Dodd? ROFL!

Mm. Even though I spent much of my early life in Essex, I seem not to have absorbed any Chav culture – lucky escape, huh? Maybe I lived in the wrong part.

I think maybe comparing stretch limos with Adolf is going a tad far, but I had a feeling you’d agree with me.

Debs – I don’t think it’s a British thing, although they certainly aren’t very welcome on our narrow and congested roads. We have many streets where it’s hard enough to drive a family sized car through the traffic, let alone find a parking spot. There are many places were you’d ‘ground’ a vehicle with a wheelbase that long. And I certainly wouldn’t want to be stuck behind one on our winding roads if I were in a hurry. You’d need a very long stretch (scuse the pun) to overtake that thing.

Hummers in general – well over here you’d find very few opportunities to use one properly (off road) so they’d be considered very wasteful vehicles.

Bob – It wouldn’t surprise me!

Rinkly Rimes – Aaaah! Now you’re talking! I don’t know why I didn’t see just how wonderful a vehicle it was in the first place!

Somnambulist – Ha! I don’t – but I grew up there! LOL!
