My first blog visitor!

SBPic

On Saturday, OH and I were honoured with a visit from the lovely Kate, of iRamble.  Despite a certain lack of confidence in driving herself, this intrepid and determined lady set out on a long and unfamiliar journey with only a lisping sat nav to guide her.  Unable to determine whether her faulty ‘Susan’* was instructing her to take the ‘firft’ or the ‘fird’ exit at a critical roundabout, she ended up lost in the wilds of the fens and it was only the lightning synapses of a local, (moi), who saved her and guided her safely to our house, where the dust bunnies and unwashed dogs were waiting to greet her.  Pretty good, considering how many interesting drugs are circulating in my system right now.

As you can see, The Princess was entranced to meet another greyhound person.  In fact it was quite a while before they were able to enjoy the couch together, because the Princess has a way of blocking the progress of those she likes, by standing firmly in front of them so that they can’t get away but have to stay and pet her, so Kate spent quite a while two feet from the front door, till I took pity on her and called the dog off. Tee hee.

Even my shy and spooky Pirate allowed his grubby self to be fondled and cooed over, which is quite an honour.

Kate is great – she is just as she seems online: bright and sparkly with a certain air of elegant hippydom.  She’s pretty too – and I love her hair!  It was so good to see her – we had some fun, and for a few hours I was able to forget the pain and fatigue. She got to see the famous Depp Room (a privilege granted only to the select few), and silently running her gaze around our poster-bedecked hallway, she agreed that, in all probability, I was every bit as insane as she was herself.  And she got along with OH, too!

Thanks for taking pity on me, Kate!  And for the cards, gift and chicken stock, too!  The dogs are already wondering when you’ll be back!

* All sat navs in this house are called ‘Susan’.  So was the one OH hired in the US.  Sometimes I wonder about that …

I had a great time – you are both really nice, genuine people! Insanity? Well it’s a way of life here…. and much enjoyed, as it is with you! I love your home, including the ‘Depp Room’ – I may have to look for more items for the shelves…… that will be fun!!!
Susan is charged up and ready for the next intrepid driving moment on Boxing Day – if she lisps then I have a huge problem – no way of asking anyone…..maybe I’ll take a map too n.b. must tell Ade she’s called Susan (maybe we’ll all find out why someday).
Give those beautiful greys a scritchy from me and hugs to you (gently of course) and OH too!

Looks like a great visit with some top notch belly-rubbin’.

My puppy (ok, 4 y/o dog) just had surgery yesterday and she’s all curled up with her big girl bandages on. I think I need to go rub her belly now!

How wonderful that you have met another Greyhound lover! Princess does look as though she intends to keep her! I have a dear friend in London who is owned by her rescued Greyhound…Poppy is her name…Poppy, who owns Jean, lol!
I am really wanting one of my own these days!

Oh, how wonderful! I have never met any of my fellow-bloggers in person yet, much as I would love to, the water tends to get in the way.. hint, hint! Maybe when you are next on Craggy Island you can give me a holler?

Hey, what’s my couch doing in your living room??

Pleased to hear that you and Kate were able to meet and it helped to cheer you up as well. It’s always good to put a face to a “voice” so nice to see her picture.

Hope your shoulder is improving daily – it certainly looked very sore in the photo.

Have been away a few days and now trying to catch up.

Moon – Ha! Did not! gif

Kate – We had a great time too! :) Good luck on Boxing Day! I think it’s about time sat navs had a ‘could you please repeat that?’ button, don’t you?

Babs – Gladys .. what a lovely, old-fashioned name! Which you spell exactly like that, by the way! :)

Liz – Trust me, it’s not just sat navs. Susan Sarandon, De Susan Lewis from ER, Susan Ivanova from Babylon 5 … even Sigourney Weaver – whose real name is Susan! LOL!

Christa – Aw … ! I hope she’s going to be OK! Did they give her pink?

Bob – LOL! Do they sing it? You wouldn’t be able to resist, would you?

Ruth – She is, isn’t she? Definitely a calendar girl!

Sandi – They do that, you know. We only think we own our dogs! LOL!

I’ve met greyhound owners before – from Greytalk, the biggest of the online greyhound forums. They’re a great bunch!

Shrinky – When we next come over, you can be sure I shall look you up! :)

  12. on 11 Dec 2008 at 8:37 pm12Jay

SJ Anne – Thanks! I’m sure it is improving .. but I went for physio today, and he tortured me!!

It was great to meet Kate!

  13. on 11 Dec 2008 at 8:47 pm13Baino

What’s a sat nav? (kidding) I still rely on the old UBD (if only I stopped reading it upside down). Lovely to have a fellow blogger visit. I live 10 minutes away from one who I talk to all the time but she doesn’t want to meet because it might spoil the ‘magic’ *sigh* Hope you’re on the mend!

If I didn’t know Kate was your recent visitor, I would have said you’re so brave to have someone visit while you’re recovering, but knowing you both as I do – I feel confident that you both added a bright spark of fun and friendship to each other’s day. Take care. xx

That must have been an incredible experience – actually seeing a fellow blogger and living to tell about it. I thought bloggers were like UFO’s – there’s a lot of sightings, but no tangible proof they exist.

    Happy trails.

    Baino – What’s a UBD? LOL!

Perhaps your fellow blogger thinks you’re an axe- murderer called ‘Dave’? ;)

Aussie – Well, at one time I’d have said no, without really thinking anout it much, just to be safe. I’m so glad I said yes, though!

    Depp Effect. ;)

English Mum – You think I should post a warning? Something like, ‘Not for pups under the age of eighteen months’? LOL!

Swubird – Ah … but how do you know this really happened?? It might be like the moon landing conspiracy. You know, filmed out in the desert where no-one knows us, on an elaborate stage set with animatronic dogs!!

    Tee hee. ;)

DM – Thanks – I thoght it fit her very well. :)

Fig leaf! LOL! Yeah, she’s a hussy.

UBD – is the Aussie version of an A-Z road map.
Used the old fashioned way by the passenger being the voice of Sat Nav following the route with their finger!!

Oh I forgot to say, it is great to meet up with internet buddies. OH and I made the trip to the States to meet up with some of his gaming buddies in Maine. 60 blokes (some with their wives/partners) made the trip to this guys house to officially meet for the first time and chatted away like they had known each other since childhood. Twas great fun!

I am so glad you and Kate had fun and enjoyed finally meeting in person!

Taffy’s Mum – Ah, thank you!

Yes, my first experience with meeting online friends was flying out to the US to stay with Tennessee Jenn and some other greyhound forum ladies. OH came with me, and we had a great time! I’m glad you had a good experience too!

Petra – Thanks! I am slowly getting around the blogs, and will be visiting soon! All sooo slooow these days!

Jenn – Hahaha! The Putty Puppy Princess!

Meleah – You should, if you can! It’s great fun!

Sandy – The Princess is always open to visitors! LOL!

The shoulder is still painful, but improving, thanks, Sandy! I’m still not allowed to use it though. *Sigh*

I’ll have you know, Mo used to call me Gladys when she was messing about. One day she said it while we were in a supermarket queue! I suddenly realized that people must have thought I really was a Gladys! She doesn’t do it any more :O)

Babs – beetles last blog post..Would you like to mess up a Christmas Carol?

Aww, the princess looks very happy with Kate. How great you got a visit. I love how the internet brings us all new friends we’d never have met otherwise.
