I know you’re probably reading this half way through the morning, but in case you’re still puzzling over it, here’s some help for those of you who are English. Wear red and white.
It’s St George’s Day!
And if anyone asks you why you’re wearing ‘that hideous outfit’ just tell them that the Government is quietly trying to eradicate England … and unlike Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, we don’t even have our own Parliament.
Of course we don’t. That would apparently be completely incompatible with regionalisation.
And that’s all I’m gonna say.
How funny - today I am wearing a red top and bright red lipstick. In a while I will put on my long whit coat and a red scarf ….. but that is a day to day look. Somehow, saying Viva La England doesn’t sound right.
It was only fairly recently I realised what the regionalisation meant and that we will no longer put our county area on a letter as it will no longer be recognised. Just the town name and postcode. What about those common town names and someone doesn’t know the postcode properly or it looks similar. So, if someone says they live in such and such town we will no longer have the bearings of some idea of county. Madness.
I know, Doris. I’ve never been particularly patriotic or political, but the way our national identity is being taken away by stealth makes me very angry. Hence the St George/England posts.
They tried to take Rutland away from us - we happened to live there at the time - and so many people objected that they relented and gave it back.
You mean we still have Rutland?! I thought that went …. off to look it up.
PS What with New Zealand and Rutland you have lived in some interesting places
